I'm still here

Oy. Things have been crazy around here and I have had zero time to write anything. This semester is hard and I'm being pulled in a million different directions.

I'm exhausted.
I have lots of post running through my head. I will get to them soon. I promise.

Required Reading

I need this book. You need this book.
Seriously.

The first page of the book goes like this:

The cats nestle close to their kittens now.
The lambs have laid down with the sheep.
You're cozy and warm in your bed, my dear.
Please go the fuck to sleep.

If you're a parent, and you've never felt like this, I think you are seriously deluded. And lying to all of us.

School daze

day 23: a photo of something that has made a huge impact on your life recently.

I'm tired of being a hairdresser, it's not a great job for a single mom. I've kind of always wanted to be a nurse, and this past August I decided it was time to finally do something about it. So, I went back to school.
This picture pretty much sums up my last semester. It was supposed to be my easy semester, just Algebra. Except, I hate math. It's really hard for me. I had to get my CNA certification, which is not difficult, but incredibly time consuming.
I've been working on my application for the Nursing program, but it's due on the 31st and I'm fairly certain I won't have my CNA by then. It's kind of a bummer, but my own fault for procrastinating. Oh well, I'll apply in January I guess.
I'm really excited for this new path. It's hard for me to sacrifice time with Miss Lily for class and studying, but we need a better life. And I need to show her that it's never too late to do better, and to be better. I need to show her what a strong, capable, independent woman looks like. She deserves a mama that isn't always stressed about making it work. She deserves the world.
My new semester starts on the 16th. Physiology and (more) Algebra. Hopefully I don't tear all of my hair out by August. My heads too big to be bald.

Wish list

I'm taking a little break from the 30 days (or 3 months) post-a-thon.

Mother's Day is coming up, and these are the items I am lusting over. But will not receive, unless Lily gets a job sometime soon.
Mama and baby bird necklace from Figs and Ginger. I love, love, love this. And I love that it's just the mama, it's hard to find family jewelry for the single mama.

Both of these are from The Vintage Pearl. The first is the key to my heart necklace, I love that I can put Lily's name on it! And the second is just so cute.

I'm on a personalized jewelry kick, apparently, so I would love any of these beautiful necklaces from Anna Bee Jewelry.

Since I'm good at dreaming big, I could totally use the SOULstice package or the Soul Revival package from The Kura Door. Lord knows, this soul needs some reviving.

But, in all honesty, having my crazy lil' munchkin is the best Mother's Day gift ever.

(although a nice long massage just might make me a little more patient. just sayin')

Oh hell no.

day 22: a photo of your wedding or your future wedding plans.

Sorry. Not doing this one.

Sew, a needle pulling thread

day 21: a hobby of yours

I LOVE to sew! It started when I was pregnant with Lily and my mom and I made a quilt and about a dozen receiving blankets. (How's that nesting instinct working out for you?) Blankets and burp cloths for friends. Then it progressed to Halloween costumes, skirts and dresses. Now I'm hooked. I wish I knew more about what I was doing, and that I had more time to do it. I love going to the fabric store. I love the satisfaction of starting with a giant piece of fabric and ending up with an article of clothing! I love figuring out the patterns and piecing it all together.

Third Halloween

Easiest skirts on the plant.

I ended up making five I think.

I've got more talent in my little finger.

day 20: a talent of yours

I don't have any special talents. I'm not athletically inclined at all, in fact I'm terrified of sports. I was a moderately talented dancer back in high school. So here is my list of random things I'm pretty good at:

picking out paint colors
choosing carpet
making chocolate chip cookies
sarcasm
and
I am awesome at coloring hair, specifically blondes.
